An experience featuring research strategies and highlighting important resources through the lens of researching African American ancestors.
Break out sessions include: Genealogy 101, Newspaper Research, Military Research, and Using DNA in genealogy.
Keynote Speaker: Dr. Nakia Parker, MSU Assistant Professor of History, will present “Black Histories on Native Lands: The Legacies of Slavery and Indian Removal in the United States.”
A closing panel discussion will answer questions from the audience on how to navigate the research to find answers.
